French - M'amie Little Black Pot

Today me and a friend decided to venture some, now that I've started a food blog...
To a place I haven't been before, to find new eats.

My laziness usually prevents me from venturing too far,
but as long as I decide to stay committed to food blogging,
I've decided that I wouldn't always be able to resort to the restaurants I already know.

All the way up in line 4, at Sungshin Women's University station
exit at exit number 1, then you will see on your right
a sight that is similar to Daehak-ro, Shinchon, or perhaps Ewha.

Bustling streets full of young people, a lot of clothing, hair, and cosmetic stores
probably due to the women's university nearby

This area is seldom visited by foreigners, perhaps because it's tucked away,
or just because there aren't many hakwons nearby

On my way to the restaurant I found this...

Sweets made with Sugar and err.. baking powder?
So pretty. I've seen a few around Daehak-ro, but in a different style, where it was crafted on the spot

And, so we arrive!

Originally known as "M'amie in the Kitchen" the place re-opened as Little Black Pot
This place is pretty famous in this district for their 'homestyle cooked French' place food

The alleyway we walked into was rather empty looking.
It was located 2 streets in from the university.

The Menu

Hmm... What is it with Koreans and Hamburger steaks?
I guess this is all because beef is expensive here... However I'm not a big fan.

Interior

Quite cozy and country-looking overall

Err... a piece of bread they offered.
It was nice and toasty when it came out, but I guess I hoped to see a fuller basket.
Perhaps rolls instead of loaf slice? Or even just a smaller basket?

The Mains

Hamburger Steak with Cheeses

Cabbage Roll

(They offered green tea or black tea for dessert, didn't take photos of those)

Overview

Can't say I was completely satisfied.
Sure nothing was outstandingly bad, but nothing was outstandingly good either.

A few critiques here and there, about the piece of bread that kind of looked like
someone's leftover due to the serving basket size to bread ratio...
and that they don't have a dessert menu aside from their "homemade ice cream"

From what I know, M'amie's is supposed to be famous for their desserts
however they didn't offer any... perhaps this all happened after the reopen

The selection of food is quite limited, and indeed this is "homestyle cooking".
I could probably easily make all of this for an everyday dinner.
and the légume tourné wasn't even done well either

As someone that looks forward to eating foods that I rather not stress cooking -
or to restaurants that cooks certain foods better than myself
or to restaurants that are creative in some sense

Maybe I'm just picky when it comes to western (French) food.
This place wasn't it, and I just can't say I was completely satisfied.
