Spicy Kalbi-jjim seems to be a specialty in the Sinsa area,
and this is one of the popular Spicy Kalbi-jjim restaurants located there.
Although this was my first time trying this local dish,
I've enjoyed it rather thoroughly even though
I didn't have much previous experiences to compare it to.
However beware: it's very very spicy.
It would be near impossible (for me at least) to fill up on just the Kalbi-jjim itself,
I think it's supposed to act more as a banchan (side dish) for your rice.
Another issue is that, due to the popularity of the restaurant
you may have to wait outside before you're seated....
The Banchan setting, nothing too special here.
So the main dish, the spicy Kalbi-jjim!
I apologize, I must have been in the haze of things,
I forgot to take a photo of the menu.
The Kalbi-jjim is 16,000 per person -- pictured is for 2.
Their jeons (battered & pan fried goods) are 14,000 except for the Tofu kind (9,000)
Pictured below is a little bit of everything (modum)
although I forget how much this was...
Not listed on the menu, but I assume in the 14,000 range
The Kalbi-jjim was rather good, but let's be honest it was too spicy
for me to taste anything
The Jeons were spectacular, crispy and flavourful.
My personal favorite was the sesame leaf one, pictured below!
Another thing that should be taken note of:
they're open till 10:30!
Not a place you can go for late-night drinking.
